Emotional Abuse
This course is school-specific content. In the UK, emotional abuse is included under the crime of child abuse. It can impact a young person’s development and lead to mental health and relationship problems in later life. Emotional abuse is typically present in physical and sexual abuse, too. So, identifying the signs can help you to protect young people from these other types of abuse, and this course can help with that and more.

- Define emotional abuse and its types, to identify and address them even when the child isn’t able to articulate their experiences
- Identify the signs and effects of emotional abuse, to be able to take the necessary steps to intervene
This course will help you understand what emotional abuse is and how to recognise and address the different types. You’ll also learn the signs and effects of emotional abuse on children. So, you’ll know what to do if you see or suspect emotional abuse, or if a child tells you about it.
